In 2016, Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis collaborated with legendary drummer Tony Allen in a Paris studio, expecting to create Afrobeat music but instead producing a fusion of rock, funk, jazz, and dub. Their intuitive connection led to a handful of near complete songs that were further developed in subsequent sessions. After Tony’s passing in 2020, Yannis completed the project as a tribute to his friend, resulting in the upcoming EP ‘Lagos Paris London’ under the Yannis & The Yaw umbrella. The EP is a lively celebration of their collaboration, showcasing the unique blend of cultures and musical styles. Label: Transgressive
