Lloyd Cole & The Commotions, a band formed in Glasgow in 1982, offered intense, melodic, guitar-based pop with droll lyrics filled with literary references. Their debut album, Rattlesnakes, was well-loved, but Easy Pieces managed to impress as well. Released in November 1985, it sold twice as many copies in its first two weeks as Rattlesnakes had to date, reaching the Top 5 on the charts. Produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley, the album’s singles, Brand New Friend and Lost Weekend, both made it into the UK Top 20. This re-issue from Proper Records faithfully replicates the original 1985 release on high quality 180g vinyl.
